Spring has been wonderful at Kings Gap this year. The rain has done wonders to overcome the dry summer last year and this past winter (yes. it really is past). The Mountain Laurel this year was spectacular, I think the best I've seen for 10 years.
The vegetation along the trails is lush, particularly the ferns along the Kings Gap Hollow and Watershed trails. The Witch Hazel along the Watershed trail is looking great after two years of defoliation. If all goes well, it should be a wonderful display when the Witch Hazel blooms in November or early December.
Keep having fun on the trails.
