Make Your Voices Heard
Precious special environmental funds are once again being eyed for a raid. Worse, many are being mischaracterized as "idle" funds that the state is "sitting on" when in FACT many of the funds are already ear-marked and committed for programs and projects underway. The House leadership seems to be willfully ignoring the common apparatus used by all state agencies for disbursement of funds.
Please call the Harrisburg offices of your state representative, right now, and urge them to oppose transfers from the Keystone Fund, Growing Greener, or Farmland Preservation to balance the budget. Of particular importance are Representatives Dan Moul (Adams County) (who appears to be leading this charge), Dawn Keefer (York County), Cris Dush (Indiana and Jefferson Counties), Mike Turzai (Allegheny County) and Mike Tobash (Schuylkill and Dauphin Counties). Please also reach out to Dave Reed (Indiana County) and Seth Grove (York County).
Get on social media (Facebook and Twitter) and spread the mesage that these funds must be protected. Tag your legislators - let them know you are opposed to this. My letter to House members is available on our website with language you can use in your call. #SaveOurParksandForests #PA Budget.
The fact is our leaders in Harrisburg must do more to protect the environment, not less.
