On Saturday, May 7th and Sunday, May 8th come to the annual Plant Sale & Spring Garden Days event (see below). On Sunday, May 8th, give mom a day to remember at the Mothers-on-the-Mountain Hike & Brunch as she enjoys some fresh air, exercise, and brunch in the lovely mansion dining room. Wednesday Hikes for the Work Weary continue. Join the Friday Sunset Hike on May 13th. Join other volunteers for a Volunteer Work Day on Saturday, May 14th. Go in pursuit of tiny “treasures” by trying Geocaching for Beginners on Sunday, May 15th. Experience the mysteries and wonders of a spring forest pool during the Spring Salamanders and Frogs program on Saturday, May 28th. Join the Memorial Day Buck Ridge Hike on Monday, May 30th. June Programs and Events
Enjoy a wide variety of events and activities during the month of June at Kings Gap. Wednesday Hikes for the Work Weary continue or you can choose one of the moderately paced Sunday Afternoon Hikes. Join other volunteers for a Volunteer Work Day on Saturday, June 4th. Enjoy folk and bluegrass music at Music on the Mountain on Sunday, June 5th. On Tuesday, June 7th join the Golden Trails Hike for hikers of a “certain” age. Enjoy a beautiful sunset during the Friday Sunset Hike on Friday, June 10th. Kayak Long Pine Run Reservoir on Sunday, June 12th. Discover the sport of orienteering during the Orienteering for Beginners program on Saturday, June 18th. The Father’s Day Primitive Skills: Dad & Me program on Sunday, June 19th provides an opportunity for dads and their children to learn some basic wilderness survival skills. Third Annual Memorial Day 5K Run
On Monday, May 30th, join the Friends of Kings Gap for the third annual Kings Gap Memorial Day 5K Run. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Kings Gap education building parking lot. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. Trophies will be presented to the overall male and female finisher (13 and older). Medals will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female finisher in each age division. Snacks and drinks will be available at the finish line. Proceeds will be split evenly between the Fisher House Foundation and the Friends of Kings Gap. Learn more
DiscoverE Summer Camps
Summer day camps at Kings Gap have been developed over many years to meet the educational, developmental, and social skills typical of each age group. The programs are conducted outdoors and are designed to guide children to greater enjoyment, awareness, and knowledge of the natural world. Activities alternate between sedentary and active learning, with breaks as needed. Registration is required. Camps are filled “first come, first served” based on the date the application is received. Music on the Mountain
Bring your lawn chair or blanket to the top of the mountain and settle in for an evening of music at its best. The view will be spectacular. Incredible sunset almost guaranteed. And think picnic—bring your own or check out the food vendors who will be ready to serve you. It’s a big mountain; there’s room for everyone so invite your family and friends and anybody you know! Garden Harvest Day
On Sunday, October 2nd from noon to 5:00 p.m. celebrate the bounty of autumn with the Friends of Kings Gap, Cumberland County Master Gardeners and Kings Gap staff. Admission is free although nominal fees will be charged for all “make and take” items. A variety of activities for all ages will feature:

- Apple Butter Making
- Pumpkin Painting

- Bird Feeder Building
- Children’s Games and Crafts

Holiday Open House
On Sunday, December 4th and December 11th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, enjoy this once-a-year opportunity to explore the Cameron-Masland Mansion, a gracious mountain stone villa built in 1908 as a summer home. Enjoy music of the season as you take a self-guided tour of both floors of the mansion in seasonal decor. Light refreshments will be offered throughout the afternoon each day.
