March Programs and Events
Begin the month of March by joining the Cabin Fever Hike on Sunday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. leaving from the Pine Plantation parking area. On Tuesday, March 7th at 7:00 p.m., come to the Education Building for the Public Information Meeting and Volunteer Kickoff. Join the FOKG board on Wednesday, March 8th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Education Building for the first Board Meeting of 2017. Go Searching for the Green on this 1–2 mile hike on Sunday, March 19th at 1:00 p.m. leaving from the Pine Plantation parking area.
Garden Harvest Day 2017
On Sunday, October 1st from noon to 5:00 p.m. celebrate the bounty of autumn with the Friends of Kings Gap, Cumberland County Master Gardeners and Kings Gap staff. Admission is free although nominal fees will be charged for all “make and take” items. A variety of activities for all ages will feature:
- Kettle-Cooked Chicken Corn Soup
- Apple Cider Pressing
- Apple Butter Making
- Pumpkin Painting
- Bird Feeder Building
- Children’s Games and Crafts
- Hay Rides
- Mum and Pumpkin Walk
- And more…
Bring your appetite and spend an afternoon in the fresh mountain air. All activities will be held in and around the mansion area.
Holiday Open House 2017
On Sunday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, enjoy this once-a-year opportunity to explore the Cameron-Masland Mansion, a gracious mountain stone villa built in 1908 as a summer home. Take a self-guided tour of both floors of the mansion in seasonal decor. Enjoy music of the season along with light refreshments including hot spiced cider and a variety of delicious cookies, which will be offered throughout the afternoon each day. All ages are welcome to attend this free event. Please join us for the festivities!
