Bring your lawn chair and enjoy Music on the Mountain on Sunday, July 1st and Sunday, August 5th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Yoga on the Terrace continues on Sundays through July beginning on Sunday, July 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join the Wednesday Workout Hikes throughout the month beginning on Wednesday, July 4th from 6:00 p.m. to sunset. Astronomy for Beginners on Saturday, July 7th from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. provides an opportunity to observe and learn about our night sky. Enjoy a Movie on the Mountain on Friday, July 20th (see below for more information). September Programs and Events
Join other volunteers on Saturday, September 1st for a Volunteer Work Day. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy Music on the Mountain on Sunday, September 2nd from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Yoga on the Terrace continues on Sundays through September beginning on Sunday, September 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join the Wednesday Workout Hikes throughout the month beginning on Wednesday, September 5th from 6:00 p.m. to sunset. Join the Sunset Hike on Friday, September 7th from 6:00 p.m. to sunset. Alternatively, you could join the Astronomy Basics program on Friday, September 7th from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to observe and learn about the night sky. Try your hand at orienteering on Saturday, September 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the Orienteering for Beginners program presented by Susquehanna Valley Orienteering. Learn about our wonderful migrating monarchs on Sunday, September 16th from 10:00 a.m. to noon during the Migrating Monarchs program. Celebrate National Public Lands Day by volunteering to do some trail work on Saturday, September 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Learn the basics of archery technique, safety, and skill by participating in the Archery Basics program on Saturday, September 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (Session 1) or from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Session 2). On Sunday, September 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., bring your furry friend for a day dedicated to dogs during K-9s at Kings Gap. Check out the September Programs and Events flyer for details.
Music on the Mountain
Bring your lawn chair or blanket to the top of the mountain and settle in for an evening of music at its best. The view will be spectacular. Incredible sunset almost guaranteed. And think picnic—bring your own or check out the food vendors who will be ready to serve you. It’s a big mountain; there’s room for everyone so invite your family and friends and anybody you know! The concerts are free, but donations are kindly accepted. Don't worry if rain is in the forecast; the concerts run rain or shine! Click here for more information.

Garden Harvest Day
On Sunday, October 7th from noon to 5:00 p.m. celebrate the bounty of autumn with the Friends of Kings Gap, Cumberland County Master Gardeners, and Kings Gap staff. Admission is free although nominal fees will be charged for all “make and take” items. A variety of activities for all ages will feature:
- Kettle-Cooked Chicken Corn Soup
- Apple Cider Pressing
- Apple Butter Making
- Pumpkin Painting
- Bird Feeder Building
- Children’s Games and Crafts
- Hay Rides
- Mum and Pumpkin Walk
- And more…
Bring your appetite and spend an afternoon in the fresh mountain air. All activities will be held in and around the mansion area
Ghoulish Gallop Fun Hike/Walk & NEW! 5K Run
Join the Friends of Kings Gap at the Kings Gap Environmental Education Center when the Ghoulish Gallop returns on Saturday, October 27th. We'll have some new treats...or tricks...in store for you. Hard to tell. There will be a timed morning run for those that want to compete and the traditional stroll in the afternoon for those that are out for the fun. Learn more or simply sign up now online!
Holiday Open House
On Sunday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 9th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, enjoy this once-a-year opportunity to explore the Cameron-Masland Mansion, a gracious mountain stone villa built in 1908 as a summer home. Take a self-guided tour of both floors of the mansion in seasonal decor. Enjoy music of the season along with light refreshments including hot spiced cider and a variety of delicious cookies, which will be offered throughout the afternoon each day. All ages are welcome to attend this free event. Please join us for the festivities!
