We are incredibly grateful to our sister agency, DCNR Bureau of Forestry, our Michaux Forest District, and all of the fire companies that came out to fight the fire (over 50 people from 3 states!. This fire started on April 24 and lasted for about a week. Thank you for protecting Kings Gap State Park, the Cameron-Masland Mansion and Michaux State Forest. 471 acres, about 50 – 65 of which were in Kings Gap, were affected. The fire is currently 100% contained. However, crews are still out patrolling for any hot spots to ensure the fire remains contained. While the park is open, please respect the trail closures seen below for everyone’s safety. Below is a map showing some of the affected areas as of the first week in May. |
